Volkswagen Suffers Its First Quarterly Loss in More Than a Decade
German manufacturer Volkswagen has presented its financial results for the third quarter. This is for the first time when one of the largest automaker in the world after the "diesel scandal" has declared its financial report.
The operating loss of Volkswagen in the third quarter amounted to 3.48 billion euros against a profit of 3.23 billion euros in the same period last year. The index exceeded the forecasts of analysts, who had expected that it will be 3.3 billion euros. The loss was the result of "diesel scandal", causing the concern to put aside 6.7 billion euros for a device costs, that eliminates the environmental standards to the statutory parameters. A real loss was for the auctioneers that assumed 1.73 billion euros this year compared to the 2.93 billion euros a year earlier.
On Monday, October 26, Bloomberg published a statistics of vehicle sales in the world for the first nine months, according to which the German company lost the title of world leader in terms of car sales. At the first line is published the Japanese Toyota. The Japanese group sold 7.49 million vehicles the first nine months of this year, while VW index reached 7.43 million.

At Pebble Beach two years ago, a similar Type 57C Atalante was sold for $8.5 million and it seems likely that this unit could fetch in excess of $10 million when the auction ends.
Mazda RX-Vision Concept Hints At Next Rotary Engine
#Mazda today unveiled the #RX_Vision concept car at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show and it points to the return of the rotary engine. The low-slung #sports_car is a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive, two-seat coupe that showcases the latest version of #Mazda's #Kodo design language.
Kodo design eschews character lines for sculpted surfaces that create reflections that suggest motion. To show off these reflections, Mazda's display uses very little light that often highlights only certain aspects of the car. That's cool from a design standpoint, but it makes it hard to show every curve and line in pictures. You can see, however, that the car's low, wide stance, long hood, short rear deck, and pushed back cabin make it immediately recognizable as a sports car. Mazda says the hood sits low thanks to the packaging efficiency of the rotary engine. The wheelbase is 106 inches long and overall length is about 173 inches.

New cars sales rose at a rate of 4.4% from a year earlier
As we know, in September 2015 new cars sales rose at a rate of 4.4% from a year earlier. In August it has 11.87% jump. For January till June, sales growth was 8.0% from the same period of 2014, according to the latest monthly Colorado Auto Outlook report from market.
Despite the slowdown in the growth rate, Tim Jackson, the dealer association's president, noted that "as we head into the final quarter of the year, new car and light truck registrations continue to trend in positive territory" from a year earlier.
The most popular new brands in Colorado last month were Toyota/Scion (2,486 cars and trucks registered), Ford (2,279 registered) and Subaru (1,918 registered).
The biggest sales growth over the previous year was by GMC (up 26.9 percent), Ford (up 16.8 percent) and Ram (up 13.2 percent), while Kia sales fell 11.9 percent.
The most popular used-vehicle makes last month were Ford (2,713 registered), Chevrolet (2,292 registered) and Toyota/Scion (2,018 registered). The used car numbers include items of 7 years old or newer.
Sales of hybrids and electric vehicles
The Quebec government is ready to spend more than $420 million in 2020 just to promote and to sell hundred thousand units of electric and hybrid vehicles annually.
“Transportation electrification represents a way for Quebec to set itself apart by promoting important values such as respect for the environment, collaboration and knowledge as well as the desire to enhance the public’s prosperity and well-being,” the province’s Ministry of Transport says in Propelling Quebec Forward with Electricity, a document that lays out the program.
As they already planned the charge stations for electric automobiles, this investment makes sense. In Quebec there is already located the manufacturer of electric school buses. The plan includes permitting electric vehicles to drive in carpool lanes and modifying the highway safety code to allow low-speed electric vehicles to travel on public roads.
The plan protects from emission and fuel problems. They will never thing about economy on fuel and will have less accidents.
But sales of hybrids and electric vehicles are at best stagnant with the price of gas below $1 a litre in parts of Canada and as low as $1.81 (U.S.) a gallon not far from Mobile, Ala.
Sales of trucks, sport utility vehicles, crossovers, minivans and pickup trucks, represented 61% of the market in Canada in September, up from 58.2% a year earlier. That means sales of more fuel-efficient passenger cars have fallen.
Quebeckers bought around 5,000 - 6,000 hybrid vehicles annually, so they will achieve their goals of sales to 15,000 annually this year and in the next five years to 100,000 annually.
Fiat Chrysler got penalty

"You can't have someone overlooking their recalls that also represents a company that makes defective parts," said Clarence Ditlow, executive director of the nonprofit Center for Auto Safety. "You can't have someone who has two masters, and Slater has two masters."
The reports show TK Holdings hired Squire Patton Boggs last December. Slater, co-leader of the firm's transportation. The firm is being paid nearly $1.3 million by TK since then.
The government hit Fiat Chrysler with a $105 million penalty because they didn't tell earlier to the customers about recalls, and didn't make recall repairs and other infractions.
Electric Tesla proved to be insufficiently reliable
